Employment Type: Casual / Part-Time (with potential for ongoing regular shifts)

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced Disability Support Worker to provide 1:1 support to a female participant living in Manly.

This role involves providing high-level personal care and daily living support to a participant with complex physical support needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting the participant's safety, dignity, independence, and quality of life.

Participant Support Requirements

The participant:

  • Is a quadriplegic
  • Uses a wheelchair for mobility
  • Requires 1:1 support at all times
  • Requires full assistance with all activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Must not be left unattended during personal care activities
  • Requires close monitoring and ongoing support throughout shifts

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing comprehensive personal care support
  • Assisting with showering, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene
  • Supporting toileting and continence care
  • Assisting with transfers using appropriate manual handling techniques and equipment
  • Preparing and assisting with meals and hydration
  • Providing medication assistance in accordance with care plans and organisational policies
  • Supporting community access and participation where required
  • Maintaining accurate progress notes and incident reporting
  • Following individual support plans and risk management strategies
  • Ensuring the participant's safety, dignity, privacy, and wellbeing at all times

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting participants with high physical support needs
  • Experience providing personal care, including toileting and showering assistance
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Valid Australian Driver Licence & reliable vehicle
  • Native Madarine speaker prefered.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience supporting individuals with spinal cord injuries, quadriplegia, or complex physical disabilities
  • Experience with manual handling equipment and transfers
  • Medication competency training
  • Relevant qualifications in Disability Support, Individual Support, Aged Care, Nursing, or related fields
