About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced Disability Support Worker to provide 1:1 support to a female participant living in Manly.
This role involves providing high-level personal care and daily living support to a participant with complex physical support needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting the participant's safety, dignity, independence, and quality of life.
Participant Support Requirements
The participant:
- Is a quadriplegic
- Uses a wheelchair for mobility
- Requires 1:1 support at all times
- Requires full assistance with all activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Must not be left unattended during personal care activities
- Requires close monitoring and ongoing support throughout shifts
Key Responsibilities
- Providing comprehensive personal care support
- Assisting with showering, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene
- Supporting toileting and continence care
- Assisting with transfers using appropriate manual handling techniques and equipment
- Preparing and assisting with meals and hydration
- Providing medication assistance in accordance with care plans and organisational policies
- Supporting community access and participation where required
- Maintaining accurate progress notes and incident reporting
- Following individual support plans and risk management strategies
- Ensuring the participant's safety, dignity, privacy, and wellbeing at all times
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience supporting participants with high physical support needs
- Experience providing personal care, including toileting and showering assistance
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification
- Valid Australian Driver Licence & reliable vehicle
- Native Madarine speaker prefered.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience supporting individuals with spinal cord injuries, quadriplegia, or complex physical disabilities
- Experience with manual handling equipment and transfers
- Medication competency training
- Relevant qualifications in Disability Support, Individual Support, Aged Care, Nursing, or related fields
